Julie DiCarlo

After receiving an Electrical Engineering PhD in quantitative cardiac MRI from Stanford, I spent ten years designing imaging studies for phase 2 and 3 clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and consulting with pharmaceutical sponsors on image clinical trial data analyses of RA treatments, many of which were initially developed to treat cancer. I joined The University of Texas at Austin in July of 2018 to focus on development and improvement of quantitative MR imaging methods for cancer detection and modeling. My research interests are in clinical quantitative MRI for breast cancer screening, especially in improving specificity of cancer screening and applying fast techniques for abbreviated screening in community-based imaging practices. My other research interests include optimizing tradeoff between spatial and temporal resolution, techniques for mitigating image artifacts and improving image quality consistency in the community setting, and radiomic data analysis for patient therapy monitoring and trials.
